Water Customers East of Walnut River
The City of Arkansas City Water Department is experiencing equipment malfunction within our Chestnut booster station, and due to this, we have temporarily ceased operation of the booster station until repairs can be performed- this will affect water customers east of the Walnut River and they may experience low water pressure. We anticipate repairs being made within the next few days. The City of Arkansas City Water Department regrets any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciates your cooperation and patience during this time. Thank you.

Annual Hydrant Flushing
The City of Arkansas City Water Department is conducting the annual fire hydrant flushing program. This year will also include flow testing of each fire hydrant which is only done approximately every five years.

On Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 at 8am the Water Department will begin flushing the area north of Kansas Avenue and south of Radio Lane along with the Highland Drive area- and will continue in this area for several days. All flushing will be conducted Monday through Friday only between the hours of 8 am - 3 pm.

Water customers in these areas may experience temporary discoloration or low water pressure during this fire hydrant flushing program. Most discoloration can be corrected by flushing a faucet for a few minutes, but if flushing does not correct the problem or if you continue to notice a pressure loss, please contact the Water Department at 441-4480 or 441-4492.

We advise that you do not wash laundry if your water is discolored as this can stain the items- if laundry does become stained please leave the items wet, call the water department, and a detergent designed to remove the stains can be delivered to your address.

Thank you for your cooperation during this fire hydrant flushing program.
