Girl with a Pearl Earring Book Discussion - July 30
17th century Holland comes alive through the eyes of Griet, a servant in the household of painter Johannes Vermeer. She has to deal with a bevy of children, the painter’s very pregnant wife, problems with her own family, the boy that wants to marry her—and Vermeer decides he wants to paint her.
Very little is known of Vermeer’s life. Only 35 works are attributed to him, and the woman in Girl with a Pearl Earring was never named. Join us for this vibrant fictionalization. Novel by Tracy Chevalier. Extra copies are available for checkout.
