A Message from Police Chief Dan Ward

Ward Picture_Page_1On behalf of the Arkansas City Police Department, I would like to welcome you to our section of the City of Arkansas City website.

The Arkansas City Police Department is staffed with dedicated men and women who are committed to serving the public and enhancing the quality of life of Arkansas City. Our officers are well trained and equipped with the latest technological advancements in law enforcement so they can effectively meet our goal of reducing crime and traffic accidents.

The Arkansas City Police Department uses modern policing methods such as Data Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS), which is an intelligence-led method of deploying resources. Using a state-of-the-art computer program, our supervisors can quickly analyze when and where crime and traffic accidents have occurred — and predict where they will occur in the future.

Armed with this knowledge, supervisors are able to assign resources to specific target locations at the appropriate time in an effort to prevent crime and accidents from occurring, as well as to initiate contact with those who are violating the law. Using this method of resource management enables the Arkansas City Police Department to function more effectively, with minimal staffing, to ensure citizens are receiving the most cost-effective service.

The Arkansas City Police Department is committed to community policing fundamentals. We recognize we cannot be everywhere all of the time and we rely on citizens to help us in our efforts. Citizens always are encouraged to call (620) 441-4414 to report any suspicious activity, dangerous conditions or neighborhood disputes.

We strive to solve problems by pulling together any and all resources in the community and within the city government to prevent future issues from occurring. Together, we can prevent crime and traffic accidents, making the community safer.

The members of the Arkansas City Police Department always welcome the chance to meet members of the community they serve.

Again, thank you for your interest and for visiting our website. If we can be of any assistance, please contact us at any time.

Sincerely,

Daniel C. Ward
Police Chief
