Ark City woman arrested on suspicion of drug offenses, theft
Dunlap accused of methamphetamine, paraphernalia possession and theft
The Arkansas City Police Department arrested an Arkansas City woman early May 17 for drug and theft offenses after a disagreement.
Rachel Leann Dunlap, 36, was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and theft.
She was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $7,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.
Dunlap since has posted bond and been released.
Police were dispatched at 3:58 a.m. May 17 for a report of two people trying to steal a vehicle.
Officers located two individuals, one later identified as Dunlap and a male companion. The pair reportedly were in a vehicle with a third person — the reporting party — when a disagreement occurred.
The reporting party parked in front of his residence, fled inside, and activated his car alarm while Dunlap and the other person still were inside the vehicle. He also contacted police at this time.
Dunlap and the other individual left the vehicle, but were located a short distance away.
Police found a purse belonging to Dunlap that contained a Garmin GPS unit and a glass smoking device with a large amount of white residue, which later tested positively as methamphetamine.
After Dunlap was arrested, the reporting party again contacted police, this time to report the theft of a pair of sunglasses and a Garmin GPS unit. A charge of theft was added to Dunlap’s booking.
A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
