Alcohol, drugs not thought to have played role in fatality collision at 4th, Maple
The Arkansas City Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle accident that resulted in one fatality late Aug. 4 in northwest Arkansas City.
The deceased is Sandra Woodworth, 78, of Arkansas City.
Her name was withheld briefly this weekend, pending notification of family.
Police and the Arkansas City Fire-EMS Department were dispatched at 5:08 p.m. Aug. 4 to the intersection of Fourth Street and Maple Avenue for a report of a traffic accident involving a pedestrian.

Both Woodworth and the vehicle were eastbound on Maple Avenue from Fourth Street.
Woodworth was transported by ambulance to South Central Kansas Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs are thought to have played a role in the accident.
The 21-year-old driver did not sustain injuries in the accident and declined treatment at the scene.
The investigation into this accident is ongoing. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call ACPD Sgt. Eric Mata at the Arkansas City Police Department at (620) 441-4444.
