Wellington man cited Dec. 20 in non-injury hit-and-run

Two children, aged 4 and 7, pushed into each other by vehicle that struck one

Arkansas City Police Department badgeThe Arkansas City Police Department cited a 66-year-old Wellington man Dec. 20 in connection with a hit-and-run accident involving two juveniles.

The driver of the 2007 Chrysler was cited for failure to report an accident and inattentive driving.

The Arkansas City Fire-EMS and Police departments were dispatched about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 for a report of an accident in the 200 block of Linden Avenue.

A church bus had stopped in the roadway to pick up passengers. Two of them were children, aged 4 and 7, who stepped out into the street to get on the bus.

The 2007 Chrysler started to go around the stopped bus, striking one of the children and pushing the child into the other child.

Both children were examined at the scene by EMS and neither reported any injuries.
