Arkansas City Police Department badgeARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (June 26, 2019) The Arkansas City Police Department arrested three Arkansas City residents June 24 in connection with a burglary June 22 at the Paris Park Pool.

Caleb Ryan Curtis, 18, and Dakota Alan Gaskill, 19, were arrested on suspicion of felony burglary of a non-dwelling, as well as one misdemeanor count each of criminal damage to property and theft.

They were transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $4,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. Both remained in custody at the time of this release.

A 15-year-old male also was arrested in connection and later released to the custody of his parents.

Officers were dispatched at 11:18 a.m. June 22 for a report of a burglary at the pool, which is located at 600 W. Fifth Ave.

The suspects caused damage to the concession stand’s window and stole items from inside the stand sometime during the overnight hours June 22. The total value of loss was more than $800.

Investigators then received a tip June 24 that three individuals might have been involved in the burglary. They located each of the three people, later identified as Curtis, Gaskill and the juvenile male.

“We truly appreciate the assistance of the community in this case,” said ACPD Capt. Eric Burr.

“The entire community benefits when we can get viable information that leads to individuals being held accountable for their actions. If you see it or hear it, please report it!”

Through interviews, police were able to learn information that led the clearance of the case and recovery of some of the stolen property. The three males were taken into custody.

A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
