Sanitation shifts to four-day schedule next week due to holiday
City offices closed Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day; no recycling Sept. 4-5
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 31, 2020) — The City of Arkansas City will shift to a four-day sanitation schedule next week due to the closure of City offices Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day.
The joint Arkansas City/Winfield Recycling Operations Center in Strother Field will be closed Sept. 4-5 in observance of Labor Day. Thus, there will be no recycling services offered this week.
(The joint recycling center will reopen for drop-offs from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 11 and Sept. 12.)
The F Street Limb Disposal and Compost Site in Ark City also will be closed Sept. 5.
All of Monday’s and part of Tuesday’s routes will be collected Sept. 8. The part of Tuesday’s route to be collected is from Madison Avenue south to the Mill Canal, and from Summit Street east to E Street and southeast through Sleeth Addition.

The remainder of Tuesday’s route and all of Wednesday’s routes will be collected Sept. 9.
Thursday’s and Friday’s routes will be unaffected by this holiday disruption.
All refuse should be placed at normal pickup locations by 6 a.m. on the scheduled day of pickup.
There will be no return pickups.
