Sanitation shifts to 4-day schedule Dec. 27-30 due to New Year’s

City of Arkansas City offices closed Dec. 31 for New Year’s; will reopen Jan. 3, 2022

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Dec. 27, 2021) The City of Arkansas City will stay with a four-day sanitation schedule this week due to the closure of City offices Dec. 31 in observance of New Year’s.

The Cowley County Landfill also will be closed Dec. 31 in observance of New Year’s. The F Street Limb Disposal and Compost Site will be closed Dec. 31, as well as Jan. 1-2, 2022, and will reopen for regular business Jan. 3, 2022.

The joint Recycling Operations Center in Strother Field will be closed on Dec. 31 and on Jan. 1, 2022, in observance of New Year’s Day. Thus, no recycling services will be offered this week.

(The joint recycling center will reopen for drop-offs from 8 a.m. to noon on Jan. 7-8, 2022.)

Today’s and Tuesday’s entire routes will be unaffected by this holiday disruption. All of Wednesday’s route and part of Thursday’s route will be collected Dec. 29.

The part of Thursday’s route to be collected Dec. 29 is from Birch Avenue north to Kansas Avenue and from Sixth Street west to 15th Street.

The remainder of Thursday’s route and Friday’s entire route will be collected Dec. 30. (Please see accompanying map for full detail of holiday pickup areas.)

All refuse should be placed at normal pickup locations by 6 a.m. on the scheduled day of pickup. There will be no return pickups.
