Beeson, Stover Take New Roles on Commission
During the January 7, 2025, City Commission meeting, Chad Beeson officially began his term as Arkansas City’s newest mayor. Commissioner Tad Stover was also selected to serve as vice mayor for the upcoming year.
The meeting included a heartfelt acknowledgment of outgoing Mayor Jay Warren, who served in the role throughout 2024. Warren, a City Commissioner since 2008, was recognized for his leadership, mentorship, and 17 years of dedicated service to the Arkansas City community.
“I just want to thank Jay,” Beeson said. “When I set out on this endeavor, he encouraged me. Jay has been a great mentor—calling me late at night, giving advice, and helping me. I truly appreciate everything you’ve done to help me move forward.”
Beeson also commended Warren’s commitment to the city.
“That’s a dedication to this city that I don’t think many people fully understand. It’s a thankless job. You have moments when you’re appreciated, but it’s a lot of hard work. Jay has been an outstanding servant to the citizens of our city, and I’m proud to call him a friend. I deeply appreciate everything he has done.”
City Manager Randy Frazer echoed these sentiments, presenting Warren with a plaque recognizing his contributions.
“Commissioner Warren, you did an excellent job this past year as mayor,” Frazer said. “We appreciate the leadership you provided. On behalf of the city staff, myself, and the citizens of Arkansas City, we wanted to honor you with this plaque as a token of our gratitude.”
