Arkansas City Honors Outstanding Students

The City of Arkansas City is excited to celebrate the achievements of local students at the upcoming Outstanding Student Award Reception and Banquet. This program, established in 1984 by the City Commission, recognizes students who exemplify academic excellence and civic involvement.

Each year, teachers, staff, and administrators nominate students for the award. The nominations are reviewed by the Outstanding Student Award Committee, which is appointed by the Mayor and City Commission. After conducting short interviews with each nominee, the committee selects three finalists from each school. From these finalists, the top student is chosen for each school. One of these top students is selected as the overall City of Arkansas City Outstanding Student of the Year and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The first runner-up will receive a $500 scholarship, and the second runner-up will receive a $250 scholarship.

The Outstanding Student Award Reception will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at the Cowley College Brown Center. Finalists will be honored at the Outstanding Student Award Banquet on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Cowley College Wright Room, where the overall winners will be announced.
