Ticket Information

Traffic tickets issued for violations of the City of Arkansas City ordinances are handled through the Arkansas City Municipal Court.

Speeding & Minor Traffic Infractions

When you receive a ticket, the officer assigns a court date printed on the citation.

You may

  • Appear in Court on that date, or
  • Pay the fine and costs without appearing.
  • To request a hearing, you must appear before the Judge at City Hall, 118 W. Central Ave, on the date and time listed on your ticket.

How to Pay a Ticket

By Phone: Call the Utility Billing Office at 620-441-4401 (credit/debit card).

In Person: Pay at the Utility Billing Counter, 1st floor of City Hall.

By Mail: Send ticket and payment to:
Municipal Court
P.O. Box 778
Arkansas City, KS 67005-0778
(You are responsible for ensuring timely receipt and posting.)

Drop Box: Use the depository in the alley between Summit and 1st Streets (east of City Hall).

Automatic Extensions

  • If you don’t appear in Court for a non-appearance violation:
  • The Court will issue a notice to appear, giving you 30 extra days to pay or appear on a Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
  • If you fail to act, a bench warrant will be issued and your driver’s license may be suspended.

Serious Traffic Offenses

Tickets marked “Must Appear” require a Court appearance on the assigned date.

If you fail to appear

  • A warrant will be issued, and
  • Your driver’s license may be suspended.

If you plead not guilty

  • The Court will schedule a pre-trial and trial date at your appearance.
  • Missing either will result in a warrant and possible license suspension.
