City of Arkansas City Mourns The Loss of Employee

The City of Arkansas City is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Chad Gleason, who died the morning of April 10, 2025, while on duty—doing the work he cared deeply about and took great pride in every day.

Chad had been a valued member of the City’s Sanitation Division since January 2024. More than a colleague, he was a trusted friend and an essential part of the Public Services Department. His strong work ethic, positive attitude, and dedication to serving Arkansas City will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of working with him.

“We lost a fellow employee and friend,” said Public Services Superintendent Tony Tapia. “All we ask is for your prayers and thoughts for Chad’s family as we navigate this difficult time.”

In the wake of his passing, city employees from other departments have stepped in to ensure that sanitation services continue without interruption.

“Chad was part of our city family,” said City Manager Randy Frazer. “His passing is a tremendous loss, especially for those who worked with him day in and day out. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and our Public Services team during this difficult time.”
