Subcontractor working on telecommunications equipment; dropbox inaccessible

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (July 13, 2021) — The alleyway between the 100 blocks of North First Street and North Summit Street, just east of City Hall, will remain closed from Central to Chestnut avenues through at least July 19 due to continuing utility work in the alley.

This closure is so a subcontractor can perform work for AT&T on telecommunications equipment.

The public should not park in any of the parking spaces that adjoin the alley during this time.

The Finance Division utility payment dropbox in the alley will remain inaccessible to vehicles during this closure, although customers should be able to walk up to it from West Central Avenue to the south.

It is recommended that citizens try to pay in person at the Utility Billing Office inside City Hall during business hours. Alternatively, customers can always pay online at any time via www.arkcity.org.

Visitors to the downtown area during this week’s 150th Celebration events should be aware of this closure and allow extra time to find a parking space downtown.
