Visit Ark City Board of Trustees

Charter Ordinance Nos. 9, 9-A, 9-B, 9-C, 17, 22 and 32; Arkansas City Municipal Code Part II, Chapter 54, Article VII, Sec. 54-168; Ordinance No. 2019-08-4496.  This board advises the City Commission and makes recommendations concerning programs and expenditures for conventions and tourism. 

It also oversees the operation, budgeting, and personnel matters of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, now rebranded as “Visit Ark City”. 

Six (6) members are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Board of City Commissioners.  Three (3) members shall represent the public at large, while the other three (3) shall be owners or operators of hotels, motels, related businesses, or tourist attractions in the Arkansas City area.  Terms are three (3) years long.  A City Commissioner serves as an ex officio member of the board with voting privileges, by consent of the Mayor and City Commissioners.
